This is my
story
I’ve always been entrepreneurial, with several businesses, some not so successful. My husband and I had a wedding stationery business for 10 years.
I started it while he was at Seminary and it was frowned upon that I wanted to stay at home with my babies. I was pressured(?) by outsiders to find a job, so I did.
It was fun and creative and we were some what successful until it wasn’t and we weren’t.
It just became too stressful, my hair fell out, our family dynamic were out of wack. We went into an awful partnership deal that ruined everything so we closed the business.
We were unofficially bankrupt. We lost everything… We were moving to America – a long story.
Then Covid happened and that fell apart too.
We lived in a shabby-chic (read: dingy) little, 2 bedroom cottage (I made it cute) and started from scratch.
I was offered a 8-5, Monday – Saturday, retail job for a grand salary of R3000!! no this was not in the 90’s, it was 2019. There was no way!!!
I decided to sell my graphic design skills instead. Created a portfolio and had 3 clients by the time lock-down started.
My business grew and my income doubled almost every 6 months.
2 years later in 2022 we bought our very own house – a dream I wanted to fulfill before I turned 40!
In 2024 we bought our second house – by the sea.
Our income exceeded 7 figures in 2022
